Bull's Methodology for Oracle to PostgreSQL Migration

After our initial conversation to understand your needs, we start by analyzing your Oracle database. You can fill in a migration questionnaire and submit it online, or you can opt to work with our sales and support personnel.

Run our analysis tool to collect information about your system, read the report in its clear text format and then send it back to us. The report helps us make a technically sound proposal first and then follow up with a detailed Statement of Work, a firm fixed-price quote, and a schedule. (We may need to have more conversations with you.)

After a contract is in place, we design and develop your new PostgreSQL database – with your involvement.  On servers at our facility, we populate your new PostgreSQL database with test data that you've provided to us. We can then suggest changes to application code, convert other features using our conversion tools, make performance improvements if necessary, and run basic unit tests and acceptance tests. Optionally, you can remotely access your new PostgreSQL database on our server and do your own testing. We ship your new PostgreSQL database and applications to your site, and support your final testing and deployment.

When the database migration is complete, you can support your new PostgreSQL database yourself or contract with Bull (or others) for a support subscription. Bull also offers other PostgreSQL support services.
